Custom Lanyard

Schools all across the nation are realizing the benefits that they can reap from requiring their student to wear ID on a lanyard. Asking student to have the ID in plain sight makes the job of security much simpler. They can at a glance see if the student has a lanyard and an ID. The really smart schools are even requesting that the lanyard be one that is a custom school lanyard. This is one more simple way to increase security. Teachers should know that there are other ways that they can benefit from custom lanyard.

Field trips are supposed to be both fun and educational. Custom lanyard can help to make it both. A common practice when planning a field trip is for the teacher to ask that parents volunteer to come along and help monitor the children. This is a great idea and teachers can make it even better by using the lanyard system.

The lanyard is system is one where the students are divvied into smaller groups. Each group has a parent volunteer and all of the members of a group are required to wear the same ID tag in the badge holder. Teachers can easily make-up names or use colors to identify each group. The extremely busy teacher could ask that each group make-up their own cards to go into their lanyards badge holder. I.e. if the class is planning a trip to the zoo the first group might be the lions. All members of this group including the parent volunteer would have to draw a picture of a lion on a yellow card and place it into their holder. They might even want to come up with a name for the group the Simbas or the Big Cats.

This is a fun activity for the children but it does have a practical side. The children may not know the parent volunteer and the reverse is probably true for the parent. The volunteer many not know the names of all the children in the group but the lanyard system will permit them to quickly know that they are in the same group. As an additional safety precaution you may want to have the children write a cell number on the back of their cards. You do not want to give out any personal information but if the child does get lost the parent or the teacher could be called immediately.

If you are supervising an older group of students, and you are allowing them to split-up and explore the venue on their own you could benefit from the lanyard as well. Ask that very student keep a questionnaire in their ID holder. As they go through the exhibits make them answer questions. This simple idea will help to ensure that the students actually go and see the exhibits rather than wandering aimlessly. You can also give each student a map of the grounds and an itinerary to follow.
